Malamuts’ puppies are very cheerful, playful and ready to do some tricks. They become calm and good-tempered with age. Living in a big family with children they play all possible games with them such as ball games, hide and seek game and ride them in sledge team. If you can say so, they become full members of the family. Alaskan Malamuts have strong temper because of their nature. They try to be leaders in the pack of dogs. Therefore, he must understand that leader’s place is occupied. It also would be difficult for them to get on well with other dogs’ breeds. You will avoid such conflicts if from the very childhood you introduce him to other animals and he gradually enter their group. The another feature of this breed is obstinacy and sensibility. These dogs are easily trainable and from the first-second time understand what you want from them but if you stuck on the same command the dog thinks it’s useless and won’t do it. If you offend him he will turn away from you and pick another family member. The appearance of the dog is very noticeable so that’s why he can live on the yard in the booth. With his warm hair he would stand any frosts. It is important to comb him once a week. During molting twice a year, the dog loses a big amount of hair. Pay attention on his nails and cut them in time, mind external ears, teeth and breath, eyes. He has to be vaccinated regularly.
According to experts, the dog’s health depends largerly on a diet. Dry feed is good for him but sometimes give him homemade food. These dogs don’t know satiety, so it’s necessary to make nutritional standards according to weight and size of the animal.
